ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Furman's Dylan Schubert finished third Friday at the 2024 NCAA Southeast Region Championship at the Winthrop Farm in Rock Hill, S.C, to earn an automatic bids to the NCAA Championships, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Madison, Wis. The men's 10K is set for 11:10 a.m. ET.
A two-time cross country All-American, Schubert, a fifth-year student from Loveland, Colo., recorded a time of 29:49.8 in 10K race, to claim his fifth-consecutive trip to the cross country finals.
The 22nd-ranked Furman men finished sixth with 141 points. Virginia won the regional with 79 points, and North Carolina took second place with 85 points to earn the region's two automatic team bids.
Senior Carson Williams finished 12th with a time of 30:04.0, while freshman Colin Eckerman posted a time of 31:00.7 for 37th place. Sophomore Chris Knight placed 39th at 31:03.0, and fifth-year student Evan Guzman recorded a time of 31:20.6 to take 50th place and conclude the Paladin scorers. Junior Luke Taylor finished 68th at 31:41.1, and senior Nick Goldstein was 73rd with a time of 31:47.4.
In the opening race of the day, the 22nd-ranked Furman women scored 208 points to finish eighth. N.C. State won the meet with 60 points, while Virginia finished second after recording 85 points, to claim the two automatic bids.
Junior Carly Wilkes paced Furman with a time of 20:54.0 on the 6K course to finish 14th. Junior Jenna Mulhern finished right behind Wilkes in 15th place after crossing the line in 20:56.0. Senior Kaylie Armitage turned in a time of 21:02.6 to finish 18th, and senior Megan Marvin posted a time of 22:14.3 for 79th place. Senior Nicole Matysik completed the Paladin scorers in 90th place at 22:25.9, and junior Emma Jones placed 97th with a time of 22:34.0. Senior Sierra Bower finished 134th at 23:07.5.
