GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The 22nd-ranked Furman men's cross country team earned an at-large bid Saturday to the 2024 NCAA Championships, which will be held Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis. The men's 10K is set for 11:10 a.m. ET.
The Paladin men finished sixth with 141 points at Friday's NCAA Southeast Region Championship. Fifth-year student Dylan Schubert, a two-time cross country All-American from Loveland, Colo., finished third with a time of 29:49.8 to pace Furman in the 10K race.
"I couldn't be prouder of our program. We were one of five teams unranked preseason that qualified - and we didn't enter the rankings until six weeks in to the season. That's starting small, thinking BIG".
Fifth-year student Carson Williams placed 12th with a time of 30:04.0, while freshman Colin Eckerman posted a time of 31:00.7 for 37th place. Sophomore Chris Knight placed 39th at 31:03.0, and fifth-year student Evan Guzman recorded a time of 31:20.6 to take 50th place and conclude the Paladin scorers. Junior Luke Taylor finished 68th at 31:41.1, and senior Nick Goldstein was 73rd with a time of 31:47.4.
Furman is one of 13 teams nationally to earn an at-large bid on the men's side. Alabama, Arkansas, BYU, Harvard, Iowa State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Mill, Oregon, Princeton, Syracuse, Tulane, Villanova, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin earned automatic bids to the men's championship meet at Friday's regionals, while Butler, California Baptist, Colorado, Eastern Kentucky, Furman, Georgetown, Northern Arizona, Stanford, Tulsa, Utah State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wyoming were awarded automatic bids on Saturday.
