Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team opens its 2024 season at home Wednesday evening when it hosts the 21^st-ranked Clemson Tigers at 6 p.m. from Paladin Stadium.

The Paladins return 14 letterwinners and eight starters from last year's team that posted a 10-8 overall record and 7-2 mark in the Big South Conference. Furman, who is being led this year by interim head coach and former Paladin midfielder Lauren Farber, finished tied for second in the Big South last season and advanced to the semifinals of the Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship for the second straight year. Furman also welcomes nine freshmen newcomers to the 2024 roster.

The Paladins, who were picked to finish third in the Big South Preseason Poll, had three players selected preseason All-Big South led by preseason defensive player of the year, Katelyn Sousa. Sousa was joined on the preseason all-conference team by Hannah Dintino and Anna Roser.

Clemson, ranked 21^st in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll, opened its season last Saturday with a 19-10 home win over Davidson. The Tigers, who finished last year 12-6 overall and 4-6 in the ACC, are under the direction of second-year head coach Allison Kwolek.

Furman and Clemson will be meeting for the second time in program history with the Tigers holding a 1-0 lead in the all-time series. Clemson defeated the Paladins, 19-3, last season in Clemson.

Furman, who opens the season with four of its first five games at home, remain at Paladin Stadium on Sunday, February 18 to entertain Kennesaw State at 11 a.m.
