Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team hits the road for the first time this season on Wednesday when it heads to Elon, N.C. for a 5 p.m. opening draw against the Elon Phoenix at Rudd Field.

The Paladins (1-1) captured their first win of the season Sunday holding off Kennesaw State for a 19-15 victory at Paladin Stadium. The win was the first for interim head coach
Lauren Farber and gave Furman its fifth consecutive triumph over Kennesaw State. The Paladins concluded the contest leading 23-20 in ground balls, 23-14 in draws, and forced the Owls into 20 turnovers. Furman also connected on four of its six free position attempts.
Anna Roser, this week's Big South Co-Offensive Player of the Week, scored a school record nine goals to lead the Paladins offensively, which broke a seven-year-old mark previously set by Ashley Trice versus Stetson on May 4, 2017. Roser's nine points also tied for third-most in a game in program history. She was one of six Paladins that scored in the contest with
Sophie Shaw contributing seven points on three goals and a career best four assists, and
Paige Harman added five points on two goals and three assists.
Sophia Buzelis won a career best eight draws and
Hannah Dintino, who had two goals and an assist, and
Lilly Dyer both caused two turnovers.
Andrea Fisher picked up a career high five ground balls and
Mia Falco added four and her first collegiate goal.
Lily Rathbun and
Sailor Henderson combined for six saves in goal with Henderson collecting her first career win.
Elon currently sits at 2-1 overall after defeating VCU, 12-11, on Saturday. The Phoenix opened their season on February 10 with a 16-6 victory at Old Dominion. Elon is under the direction of 11
th-year head coach Josh Hexter.
Furman is facing the Phoenix for the third time in program history with Elon holding a 2-0 lead in the all-time series. The Phoenix defeated the Paladins in the last meeting, 21-9, during the 2022 season.
Furman returns to Paladin Stadium on Saturday, February 24 to host East Carolina at 11 a.m.
