Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team is back at Paladin Stadium on Saturday morning to host the East Carolina Pirates at 11 a.m. in non-conference action.

The Paladins (1-2) fell in their first road game of the season on Wednesday, 13-9, at Elon. Furman recorded 16 ground balls to go with 10 draws and forced the Phoenix into 11 turnovers. The Paladins have now forced their opponents into double-digit turnovers for 11 straight games dating back to last season.
Sophie Shaw paced Furman offensively with six points on three goals and three assists, with
Paige Harman,
Anna Roser, and
Hannah Dintino all contributing two goals. Harman added an assist to conclude the contest with three points.
Katelyn Sousa picked up five ground balls to lead the team and Harman won three draws. Five different players caused one turnover apiece. In goal,
Lily Rathbun and
Sailor Henderson combined for eight saves.
East Carolina, picked tied for fourth in the AAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, currently sits at 2-1 on the season and is coming off a 16-6 loss last Saturday at No. 19 Navy. The Pirates defeated Queens (N.C.) and Gardner-Webb to open their season. East Carolina is under the direction of first-year head coach Brittany Dipper.
The Paladins and Pirates will be meeting for the fourth time in program history with East Carolina holding a 2-1 lead in the all-time series. The Pirates have won the last two meetings including an 18-5 victory last season in Greenville.
Furman is back in action next Saturday, March 2, hosting 3
rd-ranked James Madison at 11 a.m.
