Furman Falls At Samford, 74-66

Paladins Return Home For Final Two Regular Season Games

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Kennedy Langham scored 22 points to pace Samford to a 74-66 win over Furman in women's Southern Conference basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Pete Hanna Center.

The win improves Samford to 14-14 on the season and 6-7 in SoCon play, while Furman falls to 14-14 overall and 4-8 in league play.

Furman returns home for its final two games, taking on league regular season champion Chattanooga on Thursday in a 7:00 p.m. matchup before facing East Tennessee State in the regular season finale on Saturday in a 6:00 p.m. contest.

The Paladins, who grabbed a 19-11 lead on Samford after one quarter and led 30-25 at intermission, couldn't maintain the momentum in the second half as the Bulldogs tallied a 28-point third quarter on the strength 53.3 percent shooting (8x15) to go up 53-44 after three periods.

Langham scored nine of her 22 points in the decisive third quarter, and Samford also got seven points in the period from Emily Bowman, who finished with 12 points and a game high 19 rebounds.

Furman placed four players in double figures, led by Niveya Henley with 18 points.  Tate Walters finished with 15 points, Sydney Ryan with 12, and Johnson with 10.

Samford shot 50 percent from the field (14x28) over the game's final 20 minutes while Furman connected on just 10-of-29 attempts in the second half (34.5%), finishing the contest at 37.7 percent (23x61).

The Bulldogs finished the contest with a 41-38 edge in rebounding.
