Paladins Welcome Anderson, Sullinger To Men's Basketball Program

Transfer Portal Additions Each Have One Year Of Eligibility Remaining

Greenville, S.C. – Furman head coach Bob Richey has announced the additions of transfers Nick Anderson and Jalen Sullinger to the Paladin men's basketball roster on Friday.

Anderson joins the Paladins after a stellar four-year career playing for former Paladin head coach Butch Estes at NCAA Division II Barry University. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 13.6 points per game, netted 1,235 career points, and shot 43.2% from three-point range over four seasons with the Buccaneers. A native Schereville, Ind., Anderson contributed 17.4 points per game this past season while shooting better than 42% behind the arc and 78% at the foul line.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to add Nick Anderson to the Furman men's basketball program," said Richey. "Nick was someone that we were familiar with dating back to his high school career at Lake Central High School. He possesses a special skill with his ability to shoot the basketball, matched with a high IQ for the game. We are excited for Nick to join us while he pursues a master's degree from Furman University."

Anderson garnered third team All-Sunshine State Conference honors in 2023-24. He connected on a jumper with under three seconds remaining to lift Barry to a 73-71 victory over Embry-Riddle that sent the Bucs to the 2024 SSC championship game. Anderson was named team MVP following the 2022-23 campaign after pouring in 13.1 points per game and shooting 44.5% from three-point range.

Sullinger captured third team All-MAC honors this past season after averaging 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game for the Kent State Golden Flashes. The 5-foot-10 guard shot 39.2% from three and reached the 20-point plateau seven times as a junior last season, including a trio of 30-point performances.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Jalen Sullinger to our program," said Richey. "Jalen has already competed in the NCAA Tournament and should immediately provide a scoring punch on the perimeter. He has already proven himself as an all-conference caliber player in the Mid-American Conference and we expect him to impact our program greatly on and off the court."

Sullinger, who garnered MAC Sixth Man of the Year honors as a sophomore in 2022-23, scored 9.9 points per game, shot 39.9% from behind the arc, and 85.2% at the foul line in his three seasons at Kent State while helping the Golden Flashes to a 28-7 record, MAC Tournament title, and NCAA Tournament appearance as a sophomore. The Columbus, Ohio, native played his high school basketball at Thomas Worthington High School and was a teammate of current Paladin Tyrese Hughey. Sullinger garnered third team All-Ohio honors as a prep standout.

Both Anderson and Sullinger will have one year of eligibility at Furman.
