CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- Furman's Carly Wilkes and Nicole Matysik won the 5,000m and 3,000m Steeplechase, respectively, to lead the Paladin outdoor track and field team Saturday at the Lee University Last Chance Meet in Cleveland, Tenn.
A sophomore from Salem, Va., Wilkes set a meet record with a time of 16:10.20 in the 5,000m, while Matysik, a senior from Key West, Fla., posted a time of 10:35.96 to take gold in the Steeplechase. Â
The Furman women posted three other top-five finishes, as senior Madelynne Cadeau placed third with a time of 16:44.61 in the 5,000m, and sophomore Camryn Wennersten finished fourth at 4:23.84 in the 1,500m. Senior Megan Marvin turned in a time of 4:24.75 for fifth in the 1,500m.
On the men's side, three Paladins finished among the top 15 in the 5,000m. Junior Gabe Montague led Furman with a time of 14:20.50 for seventh place, while sophomore Luke Taylor placed 11th at 14:24.99. Junior Nick Goldstein crossed the line in 14:40.16 for 15th place.Â
Junior Matthew Smith finished 15th with a time of 1:51.08 in the 800m, and freshman Brayden Seymour was 19th at 3:53.34 in the 1,500m.
