Furman Concludes Road Swing This Weekend At Georgia Southern

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman volleyball team wraps up a five-match road trip this weekend when it heads to Statesboro, Ga., for the Eagle Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern at Hanner Fieldhouse.

The Paladins open the weekend on Friday taking on Charleston Southern at 10 a.m. and North Carolina A&T at 3:30 p.m. Furman concludes tournament play on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. versus tournament host Georgia Southern.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. Saturday's matchup against Georgia Southern is being streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+. Updates will also be posted on the Furman volleyball Twitter page (@FurmanVB).

The Paladins (3-2) enter the weekend having won their last three matches capped by a 3-0 sweep on Tuesday over Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. Furman hit .258 for the match and led 47-33 in kills, 44-32 in assists, and 64-58 in digs. The Paladins also held an 8.0-4.0 advantage in blocks.

Ava Augustson and Chandler Parker both led the Furman offense with 11 kills apiece. Genevieve Perry contributed eight kills, Mary Beth Headley seven, and Lindsay Walch six. Emily Navarro posted her second straight double-double on 22 assists and 15 digs. Defensively, Kennedy Seekford registered a match high 22 digs and Perry totaled six blocks.

North Carolina A&T and Georgia Southern both have 4-1 records entering the weekend while Charleston Southern sits at 2-4 overall.

The Paladins are facing Georgia Southern for the 52nd time in program history, Charleston Southern the 38th, and North Carolina A&T the fifth. Furman leads the all-time series over Georgia Southern 32-19, Charleston Southern 24-13, and North Carolina A&T 4-0. Charleston Southern defeated the Paladins, 3-1, on August 31 in Greenville.

Furman returns to Alley Gymnasium on Wednesday, September 18 to host Presbyterian at 6 p.m.
