GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Megan Marvin has been named the Southern Conference women's indoor track athlete of the week, the conference office announced Wednesday. The selection was made by a panel of the league's track and field coaches and included all competition from Jan. 15-21.
A senior from Chapel Hill, N.C., Marvin, the reigning SoCon 800m champion, competed in two events at last weekend's Vanderbilt Invite in Nashville, Tenn. She placed fourth and established a new Paladin record with a time of 2:45.91 in the 1,000m and went on to finish seventh with a time of 4:47.20 in the mile. Both times lead the conference.
Furman will compete at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C., and the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
