VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Furman freshman Ava Hanneman (+1) is tied for ninth after Thursday's opening round of Old Dominion's fifth annual Evie Odom Invitational, which is being held at the par 70, 5,824 yard Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va.
A native of Orono, Minn., Hanneman birdied No. 3 and turned at 2-over par. She was flawless on the back nine with a birdie on No. 12 and eight pars to card a 71, tying her career best, and finish the day three strokes back of leader Maria Eidhagen Harrouch (-2) of Georgia, who led the field with a 68 on Thursday.Â
Junior Audrey Ryu (+4) is tied for 28th entering Friday's second round after carding a 74 with a birdie on No. 4, while freshman Olivia Hasselbach (+5) shot a 75 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, to tie for 37th.
Sophomores Eva Ringwald (+10) and Jenna Madden (+10) are tied for 65th after each recorded an 80 in round one. Ringwald posted three birdies, while Madden scored birdies on No. 8 and No. 11. Sophomore Andrea Marin Raga (+7), who is playing as an individual, shot a 77 with birdies on No. 11 and No. 13 to tie for 49th. Â
Georgia (+5) holds a four-stroke lead over Coastal Carolina (+9), while James Madison (+10) sits in third place. South Alabama (+11) and Maryland (+11) are tied for fourth. Furman (+20) is in tenth place after the opening round.
