Furman To Play In SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. --  The Furman men's golf team will compete at the Trinity Forest Invitational Sunday through Tuesday at the par 72, 7,617 yard Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.

"This will be a great opportunity for us to bounce back in Dallas this week at the Trinity Forest Invitational," said Furman head coach Matt Davidson, the reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, who is in his eighth year leading the Paladin program.  "Trinity Forest is a fantastic course.  It gives you room off the tee, but you need creativity with your approach shots and around the greens.  The scores are usually pretty good, so if we can get the putters hot, we will be able to put up some low numbers.  We have three events in a row to end the fall season, so it will be a great time to start building some momentum for the home stretch."

The Paladins will be joined in the 15-team field by host SMU, Abilene Christian, Baylor, Cal Poly, ETSU, Houston, Louisiana, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, South Alabama, Southern Cal, Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Texas San Antonio.

Furman's lineup for the tournament includes senior Harris Barth, senior Clark Akers, senior Zack Frazer, sophomore Ludvig Josefsson, and junior Fisher Kennedy.

The 54-hole tournament begins at 9:55 a.m. ET on Sunday and Monday and at 9:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday.  The Paladins will tee off of No. 10 Sunday at 9:55 a.m. ET and will play in a group with Baylor and North Texas.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Live tournament scoring will be available via Scoreboard by clippd.

Furman opened the 2024-25 season at the Gopher Invitational, where Akers and Frazer each shot 4-over to tie for 20th.  The Paladins surged into eighth place as a team after recording a final-round 284.  Most recently, Barth won the individual title at the Bearcat Invitational, marking the first individual victory of his career, with scores of 67-69-68=204.

Last season, Furman received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where Barth tied for ninth to pace the Paladins.  Will Morlan, Akers, and Barth were named to the All-SoCon team, while Josefsson claimed a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team.
