Furman To Battle Clemson Sunday At Timmons Arena

2:00 P.M Tipoff

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's women's basketball team returns to action on Sunday when it welcomes Clemson to Timmons Arena for a 2:00 p.m. contest.

In addition to being streamed via ESPN+, the game will be televised by Palmetto Sports/Fox Carolina, the official television station and weather partner of Furman Athletics, on WHNS 21.2, on Spectrum 703, and most other cable systems serving viewers in the area.

Fans can also follow the action via StatBroadcast live stats and receive timely updates and highlight clip thru @FurmanWBB's "X" account.  Links to the livestream and stats are available on Furman's women's basketball schedule page at FurmanPaladins.com.

The Furman-Clemson game is part of a Sunday hoops doubleheader that will include a 5:00 p.m. Paladin men's clash with Queens.

The Paladins (2-4) head into Sunday's contest having dropped their last two games, including a 68-50 road decision at Radford on Wednesday after falling to Campbell, 68-61, in Timmons Arena on Sunday.

Clemson (3-2) comes to Greenville for its first outing in a week.  The Tigers dropped a 65-54 verdict to 21st-ranked Louisville on Sunday.

The head coaches in Sunday's clash, Furman's Pierre Curtis, now in his third year as mentor, and Clemson's Shawn Poppie, who is entering his second in Tigertown, once served as Paladin assistant coaches under former head coach Jackie Carson.  In all, Poppie spent four years (2013-16) on Furman's staff.

Furman, whose squad is composed of three juniors, eight sophomores, and three freshmen, is led by a trio of sophomores — forward Clare Coyle (12.3 ppg., 7.3 rpg) and guards Alyssa Ervin (11.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg) and Raina McGowens (11.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg).

Junior guard Lauren Bailey, a transfer from Gardner-Webb, led Furman with a season high 12 points (4x8 3PGs) against Radford.

Sunday's game will mark Clemson's first appearance on the Paladins' home court since the 2015-16 season when Furman claimed a 70-49 victory — the last in the series by the Paladins.  Clemson holds a 25-4 advantage in the series and has won the last two meetings.

Clemson's roster features a pair of former Southern Conference standouts — guards Rachel Rose (Wofford) and Raven Thompson (Chattanooga).
