GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman indoor track and field team combined for 14 top-10 finishes this weekend at the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, S.C., and Gamecock Challenge in Columbia, S.C.

On the women's side, Furman compiled seven top-10 performances highlighted by five of fifth or better.

Senior Megan Marvin paced the Paladins individually finishing second in the 800m with a time of 2:06.36. Freshman Jais Ward followed in fourth at 2:08.72 and freshman Nysa Males was fifth after her time of 2:08.85. Freshman Claire Cook came in ninth place with a time of 2:11.82.

In the mile, senior Madelynne Cadeau finished fifth with a time of 4:51.01 followed by junior Carly Wilkes in sixth with a personal-best time of 4:51.25. 

The Paladins took second in the distance medley relay, with Marvin, Cook, Males, and Ward recording a time of 11:20.25 to establish a new Furman program record.  The former record of 11:25.60 was set in 2023.

The Furman men totaled seven top-10 performances including five inside the top-5.

Senior Matthew Smith had the best finish for the Paladins after registering a second place showing in the mile and his time of 4:00.38.

In the 3000m, freshman Ryan Smith was fifth with an 8:12.34 and senior Foster Wilfong ninth at 8:20.22.

Furman had four of the top-6 finishers in the 5000m led by senior Casey Burr's third place performance following his time of 14:30.44. Junior Colton Kempney placed fourth at 14:35.51 and freshman Rives Boltwood was fifth with a time of 14:40.25. Sophomore Owen Shifflett rounded out the team in sixth place with a 14:41.24.

Select members of the Paladin team will compete at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 8.
