Greenville, S.C. –
Furman University's $40 million donor-funded Timmons Arena renovation continues to take shape as details and features for the new home of Paladin men's and women's basketball become clearer exactly one year after the project began.

Implemented by Betsch Associates architects and Harper General Contractors, Timmons Arena, the signature capital project of the Clearly Furman Campaign, is on schedule to open in the fall of 2025.

"It is truly amazing to see the Timmons Arena renovation come to life and our collective vision get closer to becoming a reality," said Jason Donnelly, Furman's vice president for intercollegiate athletics. "Once complete, our students, teams, ticket holders, and fans will be invigorated by the changes, possible only by the incredible generosity of our donors. Timmons Arena will be a game changer for the Paladins and reaffirms Furman's commitment to academic and athletics excellence on a national level."

As fans approach the newly renovated Timmons Arena, the glass façade and plaza entryway, brought to life by design partner Dimensional Innovations, provide a modern look that fits perfectly into Furman's athletic campus. The new box office, designed to serve both Timmons Arena and ticket needs for Furman football, greets fans before they enter the inner lobby. The spacious lobby can be used as an event space and will house Furman's Hall of Honor, which will feature the Furman Athletics Hall of Fame and interactive exhibits highlighting the history of the Paladins.

Entering the arena, fans will be on the new 360-degree concourse, featuring both grab-and-go and traditional concession options. The concourse also boasts a drink rail where fans can enjoy an unobstructed view of the action from any angle above the seating bowl.

The completely redesigned seating bowl, created with partner Irwin Seating, will feature a variety of seating opportunities, including courtside seats, club seats, and premium seating closer to the floor. A pair of new ribbon boards will provide first-class fan engagement and corporate partnership opportunities.  The venue will offer eight private suites, two party suites, two premium club spaces in the Ingram Courtside Club and the Herring VIP Suite, plus the Rogues Hospitality Deck.

"Each time I tour the facility and see the progress that is being made, my excitement and anticipation grow," said Erin Mayes, Furman's senior associate athletics director, senior women's administrator, and project manager. "I'm so thankful for all our partners and how their work and vision have brought this project closer to becoming a reality. What is unique about the new Timmons is that it gives us so many opportunities with new space that we didn't have in the past. The new space offers a lot of options, not only from a basketball standpoint, but also from a venue rental standpoint in bringing other events to the arena."

The south baseline in the redesigned Timmons Arena will feature lower-level seating for Furman students. Behind the seating area will be a "student zone" to host student programming and events on game days. Timmons' north side will include one of the most innovative and unique areas inside any college basketball venue as Kraemer Design & Production has teamed with The Children's Museum of the Upstate to create the "Furman Family Zone".

The back of house, which will feature increased office space and a total of six locker rooms, will offer better flow and functionality. The space will allow Timmons to be a true home for Furman athletics and enhance collaboration among the staff. The facility will also include space for media and for press conferences.

Fundraising and naming opportunities continue to be available through the Furman Athletics Fund.  The fund's new Priority Points Guide serves as a comprehensive overview of the priority points program and establishes guidelines for the Timmons Arena seat selection process.

Furman continues to work with ticketing partner Taymar, along with Legends College, to do a market survey and data analysis on the right price points for the new Timmons Arena.  Facility tours have begun for Furman season ticket holders, and the ticket sales process will begin following the conclusion of the 2024-25 basketball season. This process will take place over several months according to the priority points seat selection process.
