GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team begins a three-game homestand this weekend when it welcomes the Delaware State Hornets and Mercyhurst Lakers to Paladin Stadium for a pair of non-conference matchups.
The Paladins get the weekend started Friday hosting Delaware State at 6 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. contest Sunday versus Mercyhurst.
Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. Both games are being streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+. Updates will also be posted on the Furman women's lacrosse Twitter page (@FUWlax). Admission to all Furman home games this season is free.
The Paladins are off to their first 2-0 start since 2020 after earning a 15-11 win over Kennesaw State last Saturday in their first road game of the season. Furman held a 17-13 advantage in draws and finished the contest with six ground balls and forcing Kennesaw State into six turnovers.
Paige Harman paced the Paladins with a game high six points after tying her career best four goals to go with two assists.
Anna Roser scored a game high five goals and
Sofija Buzelis totaled four points on three goals and an assist.
Lily Toole provided three points on two goals and an assist.
Skylar Hilmer and
Caroline Smith both won five draws, while
Reynolds Hester picked up two ground balls and Toole caused one turnover.
Playing in her first collegiate game, goalie
Madigan Brewer finished with 11 saves.
The trio of Harman, Brewer, and Toole were all honored with Big South weekly awards on Tuesday. Harman was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, Brewer the Defensive Player of the Week, and Toole the Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Delaware State enters the weekend with an 0-3 overall record and is playing for the first time since February 15 when it fell, 18-3, at Radford. The Hornets are under the direction of first-year head coach Madeline Price.
Mercyhurst is 0-1 on the season after opening the year with a 17-7 loss to Lindenwood on February 10. The Lakers travel to Duquesne on Thursday before facing Furman.
The Paladins hold a 4-0 lead in the all-time series over Delaware State and are facing Mercyhurst for the first time in program history.
Furman closes out its homestand on Wednesday, March 5 hosting Detroit Mercy at 7 p.m.
