GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team had eight different players record a goal Friday evening in a 15-3 victory over Delaware State at Paladin Stadium.
The Paladins improve to 3-0 on the season while Delaware State drops to 0-4 overall.
Six of the eight Furman goal scorers had two or more in the contest led by
Anna Roser's hat trick.
Paige Harman paced the Paladin offense for the second straight outing, finishing with a game high six points on four assists and two goals.
Sofija Buzelis provided five points on three assists and two goals, while also winning a season high seven draws, and
Lily Toole added three points on two goals and an assist.
Andrea Fisher picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers along with
Skylar Hilmer.
Goalies
Madigan Brewer and
Sailor Henderson combined for three saves and allowed just three goals.
London Downing led the Hornets with two goals. Goalie Kimaari Mondy totaled seven saves.
Furman scored the game's first nine goals and built a 12-1 lead with six minutes remaining in the first half on Toole's second goal of the evening. The Paladins held a 12-2 advantage at halftime. Roser netted all three of her goals in the first half while Buzelis and Toole each had two.
Furman limited Delaware State to only one goal in the second half, which came with eight seconds left in the third quarter.
Allie Kandel and
Marin Hodor provided the Paladin offense in the final 30 minutes with their first career goals. Kandel scored in the third quarter to give the Paladins a 13-2 lead. Hodor compiled both of her goals in the last 1:36 to seal the 12-goal victory.
Furman outshot the Hornets 35-15 in the contest and forced Delaware State into 18 turnovers. The Paladins also held an 11-6 advantage in ground balls and finished with 10 draws. Furman concluded the game with a season low eight turnovers.
