Furman Entertains Detroit Mercy Wednesday To End Homestand

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team wraps up a three-game homestand Wednesday when it hosts the Detroit Mercy Titans at 7 p.m. inside Paladin Stadium.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats. Updates will be posted on the Furman women's lacrosse Twitter page (@FUWlax). Admission to all Paladin home games this season is free.

Furman (4-0) is looking to continue its best start to a season since 2015 after cruising past Mercyhurst, 20-4, in the first-ever meeting between the two programs this past Sunday. The Paladins outshot Mercyhurst 40-12 and held a 16-6 advantage in ground balls and 19-9 in draws. Furman committed a season low in turnovers for the second straight game, finishing with six.

Anna Roser, who was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, broke the program's career goals record in the victory after leading all players with seven goals. Roser enters the Detroit Mercy contest with 153 career goals and surpassed the previous record of 151 held by former teammate Hannah Dintino (2020-24).

Paige Harman tied Roser with a game high seven points, also matching her career high, to lead the Paladins offensively after scoring twice and dishing out a career high five assists. Lily Toole contributed a career high five goals. Sofija Buzelis tallied four points on three goals and an assist while tying her career high of eight draws. Skylar Hilmer also won a career best seven draws.

Furman played all three goalies Sunday in Madigan Brewer, Sailor Henderson, and Sam Melville. Brewer earned the win while Melville registered two saves in her first collegiate appearance.

Detroit Mercy currently sits at 2-2 on the season following a 13-8 victory on Sunday at Kennesaw State. The Titans are under the direction of first-year head coach Alexa Matta.

The Paladins are facing Detroit Mercy for the seventh time in program history with the all-time series tied at 3-3.

Furman starts a two-game road trip on Sunday, March 9 traveling to UMBC for a 12 p.m. opening draw.
