Greenville, S.C. – Charlotte erupted for six runs in the top of the fourth inning on its way to an 11-1 victory over Furman in non-conference softball action Wednesday afternoon at Pepsi Stadium.
The 49ers (11-11) grabbed the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning when they sent 10 players to the plate and Jenna Lord added to the Charlotte advantage with her 10
th home run of the season, a solo shot, in the top of the third. Emma Shoemaker, Brelyn O'Hearn, and Kari Shedrick each knocked in runs as the 49ers pushed six runs across the plate in the fourth inning to extend the margin to 9-0.
Brooke Bowling (5-2) picked up the win in the circle after holding Furman scoreless on one hit over three innings of work. She walked one batter and struck out one. Lord, the reigning D1 Softball National Player of the Week, went 3-for-3 with a homer and scored three runs while Shoemaker finished 2-for-3 at the plate.
Starter
Emme Buzhardt (3-4) absorbed the loss for the Paladins. She was charged with five runs on six hits over three-plus innings while allowing three walks.

Madison Petty posted a pair of hist for the Paladins.
Furman (7-16) is back at home on Friday when it opens play in the Furman Round Robin.
