Greenville, S.C. – The Furman softball team plays its final Southern Conference regular season road series this weekend when it travels to Cullowhee, N.C., for a three-game set versus Western Carolina at the Catamount Softball Complex.
 
This weekend's series is slated to begin with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and conclude with the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+. Both Furman (14-31) and Western Carolina (20-27) enter the weekend at 4-11 in SoCon play and tied for sixth place with ETSU with six league games remaining before the end of the regular season. The Paladins ended a nine-game skid last Saturday with a 6-1 victory over league-leading Samford in their series finale in Birmingham, Ala. Pitchers Angelina Ricciardi and Emme Buzhardt combined to hold the conference's top offense to just one unearned run over seven innings in the victory. First baseman Kiley Perry moved into a tie for second on Furman's career home runs list by belting her 25^th roundtripper, a three-run shot, in the series finale.
 
Furman holds a 44-20 lead in the all-time series versus Western Carolina and has swept the regular season series from the Catamounts in each of the past three seasons. Western Carolina, however, eliminated Furman from last year's SoCon Softball Championship with an 8-6 decision in the opening game of the tournament in Greensboro, N.C.
 
Following this weekend's series, Furman travels to face nationally-ranked South Carolina on Tuesday before hosting Mercer in the final series of the regular season next weekend at Pepsi Stadium.
