Greenville, S.C. – Legendary Furman men's soccer coach
Doug Allison will retire following the 2025 season, his 31
st at the helm of the Paladin program, he announced to his team, the program's donors, and former players during Alumni Weekend festivities on Saturday.
Since taking the reins of the Furman program in 1995, Allison, the winningest head coach in Southern Conference history, has guided the Paladins to 11 SoCon regular season titles, 10 SoCon Tournament crowns, and 10 NCAA Tournament bids. The Bath, England, native led Furman to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999 while also advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 2002.

This past season, Allison and his staff were named the United Soccer Coaches South Region Staff of the Year after capturing the SoCon Tournament crown and advancing past nationally-ranked North Carolina in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Goalkeeper
Aaron Salinas garnered all-region honors and SoCon Goalkeeper of the Year accolades while being joined by six other Paladins in earning all-conference laurels.
A nine-time SoCon Coach of the Year selection and three-time United Soccer Coaches South Region Coach of the Year, Allison has compiled a 349-173-72 overall record and 137-54-23 league mark in 30 seasons at Furman. His 349 wins rank 11
th among active NCAA Division I head coaches.
During his tenure at Furman, Allison has produced 143 All-SoCon selections, 30 All-Americans, 15 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Americans, three United States National Team standouts, and nine MLS draft picks. His Furman teams have developed United States World Cup stars Ricardo Clark, Clint Dempsey, and Walker Zimmerman, along with MLS regulars Alec Kann, Jon Leathers, and Shea Salinas.
Allison graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1989 after a standout career that saw the forward earn 1987 All-America honors and twice receive CSC Academic All-America citations. South Carolina's first ever All-American, Allison scored a school record 63 goals and 158 total points for the Gamecocks while leading them in scoring all four seasons. The Gamecocks advanced to the NCAA Tournament in three consecutive years during Allison's playing career. He was inducted into the University of South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
