Clinton, S.C. – Furman erupted for four second-half goal en route to a 5-0 victory over the Presbyterian Thursday evening at Martin Field on the PC campus.
 
With its fourth consecutive victory, Furman improved to 4-1-0 on the season. The loss dropped the Blue Hose to 2-1-1 on the campaign.
 
After Emma Sexton put the Paladins in front just 2:22 into the match on an assist from fellow graduate transfer Briyah Drayton, the Paladins maintained their 1-0 lead into the 54^th minute. This time it was Sexton setting up sophomore Jaleah Simmons, who doubled the lead at the 53:07 mark. 
 
Simmons goal opened the floodgates for the Paladins as junior Maddie Massie netted goals in the 63^rd and 67^th minutes with Ava King assisting on her first strike and Norah Roller setting up the Birmingham, Ala., native's second score of the night. Transfer Bri Pinasco concluded the scoring by going top-shelf off a pass from Alyssa England with nine seconds remaining in the match.
 
"Winning on the road is always tough so it's gratifying to get a decisive victory away from home against a team that was unbeaten in its first three matches," said Paladin head coach Andrew Burr. "We showed some ruthlessness in the box tonight and hopefully that will give our team some confidence moving forward."
 
Along with dominating the scoreline, Furman managed a commanding 20-6 margin in total shot on its way to the 17^th win over the Blue Hose in 19 series meetings. The Paladins managed an 11-1 edge in shot on goal and earned 13 corner kicks to just one for PC.
 
Reese DeJong made one save in goal to notch Furman's third straight shutout while Febe Dombrecht stopped six shots for the Blue Hose.
 
Furman is idle until Thursday, September 4, when it travels to Spartanburg, S.C., to face the USC Upstate Spartans.
