Greenville, S.C. – The Furman softball team returns to action this weekend when it travels to Troy, Ala., to take part in Troy University's Trojan Invitational at the Troy Softball Complex.
The Paladins open the weekend on Friday with games against two of the top mid-major teams in the country. At 2:30 p.m. ET, Furman takes on the Omaha Mavericks, currently ranked as the top mid-major team in the nation. The host Trojans, ranked No. 20 in the latest mid-major poll, will entertain the Paladins at 5 p.m. ET in a matchup that will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Saturday's action begins with a 9:30 a.m. contest against the Nicholls Colonels before the Paladins face Kennesaw State at 12 p.m. at the Troy Softball Complex. Furman is scheduled to conclude the weekend with a 12:30 p.m. game against Troy Sunday on ESPN+.
The Paladins enter the weekend at 1-8 following a 14-4 loss to Lipscomb in the finale of the Purple & White Classic at Pepsi Stadium on Saturday. Freshman
Eden Frederick leads the Paladins with a .417 batting average while
Rachel Hawkins (.333, 1 HR, 3 RBI),
Sylvia Burroughs (.320, 2 HR, 6 RBI), and
Katie Peeler (.308, 3 HR, 5 RBI) have each batted over .300 with four extra base hits through the first nine games of the 2026 campaign. After clubbing just 14 home runs a year ago, Furman has hammered 10 roundtrippers already this season and produced a .496 slugging percentage.
Omaha comes into the Trojan Invitational at 9-0 this season and Troy sports a 9-1 record with its lone loss coming against Southern Conference foe Chattanooga. Nicholls has fashioned a 6-3 mark this season while the KSU Owls are 2-6.
