GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team begins a 10-match road trip Thursday afternoon when it travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., for a 3 p.m. contest against the North Carolina Tar Heels at Chewning Tennis Center.

The Paladins (1-3) claimed their first win of the season last Friday with a 7-0 sweep of North Greenville at Mickel Tennis Center.
Furman clinched the doubles point with victories at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3. Playing at No. 3,
Alex Han and
Finn Pollard claimed a 6-0 triumph with
Evan Duggal and
Landon Ecarma securing the point at No. 2 with a 6-3 victory.
Nicolas Dispas and
Nico Snyder wrapped up doubles at No. 1 with a 6-3 win.
The Paladins followed in singles action sweeping all six matches to record the 7-0 victory. Snyder got Furman on the board first at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win, and Duggal added a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3.
Theophile Joly contributed a 6-3, 6-3 win playing at No. 2. In the No. 4 match,
Walker Allen contributed a straight-set victory, 6-2, 6-3. Dispas (6-1, 6-1) and Barnabas Sift (6-3, 6-2) concluded singles with straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6.
North Carolina enters the matchup with a 2-1 overall record and last played on January 24 when it defeated Virginia Tech, 4-0, at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Tar Heels are under the direction of 33
rd-year head coach Sam Paul.
The Paladins are facing North Carolina for the 31
st time in program history with the Tar Heels owning a 29-1 advantage in the all-time series. North Carolina topped Furman, 6-1, in the last meeting on February 26, 2024, in Chapel Hill.
The Paladins head to Conway, S.C., next weekend, February 13-14, to face Coastal Carolina and William & Mary.
