DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. -- The Furman (+6) women's golf team is in second place after Monday's two rounds of the Daniel Island Invitational, which is being held at the par 72, 6,166 yard Ralston Creek Course at Daniel Island Club in Daniel Island, S.C.
High Point (+4) leads the tournament by just two stroke over the Paladins, who surged into second place after leading the field at 4-under in round two. Xavier (+7) sits in third, while 46th-ranked N.C. State (+8) is in fourth place. East Carolina (+13) and Coastal Carolina (+13) are tied for fifth. Â
Sophomore Jenna Madden (-1) is tied for ninth to lead Furman. After posting a 74 with a team-high three birdies in round one, she fired a 69 with five birdies to pace the Paladins in round two. She teed off on No. 7 in the second round and birdied her first hole then added a second birdie on No. 13. After turning at 2-under, she birdied three of her final four holes of the day. A naive of McKinney, Texas, Madden sits three strokes back of leaders Anna Howerton (-4) of High Point and Sydney Hackett (-4) of Western Kentucky.Â
Freshman Olivia Hasselbach (+2) tallied a 2-under par 70 with four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 5 and No. 6, to tie for 20th. She opened the tournament with a first-round 76 with a birdie on No. 17 before rebounding in the afternoon round.Â
Freshman Ava Hanneman (+3) recorded a hole in one on No. 4 to finish out round one with a 74. She carded birdies on No. 3 and No. 6 in the morning round then scored a 73 with three birdies in round two, tying for 23rd. Sophomore Audrey Ryu (+5) is tied for 33rd. After shooting a 77 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 14 in round one, she regrouped to finish round two with an even 72 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 14. Sophomore Eva Ringwald (+11) shot a 74 with a birdie on No. 18 in the morning round and tallied an 81 with birdies on No. 8 and No. 14 in the afternoon round, tying for 57th.  Â
Sophomore Andrea Marin Raga (+10), who is playing as an individual, carded an 80 with a birdie on No. 14 in round one and a 74 with three birdies in round two to tie for 54th. Â
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The Paladins will tee off on No. 3 through No. 3 and will play in a group with High Point and Xavier. Admission is free and fans are welcome. Live results will be available at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/238738/scoring/team.
