Furman Honored With Platform Golf Outstanding Team Academic Award

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team was honored with a 2025-26 Platform Golf Team Academic Award, as announced today by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

To be eligible for the honor, a university must submit GPAs for each player on their official squad list for the academic year, and teams with a combined 3.5 GPA and above earn the award.  The Paladins posted a 3.58 GPA for the 2025-26 athletic season to join 87 other NCAA Division I who earned the distinction.

"This is an award that means a lot to our team, especially at a school like Furman," said Paladin head coach Matt Davidson.  "It isn't easy to balance the time demands of college athletics with academic excellence, and I am always so impressed and also so proud of how our guys handle the challenge.  Our players have high goals and expectations both on and off the course, and it is always nice to be recognized like this!"

In addition to the Paladins' success in the classroom, the team flourished on the course.  Furman placed second at the 2026 SoCon Championship, marking the Paladins' highest finish under Davidson and the highest finish since the Paladins won the championship in 2010.
