GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Paladin women's tennis team recorded five victories in Saturday's second round of the 39th annual Debbie Southern Fall Classic, which is being held this weekend at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
The Paladins won two matches in the final round of doubles. In flight one, sophomores Elle Warren and Lillie Murphy captured the flight championship by default due to an injury to N.C. State , and sophomores Sasha Dimitrov and Bianca Ceroni notched their second victory of the weekend after beating South Carolina's Jana Stojanova and Frances Pate, 6-2.
In round two of singles, Furman claimed three wins. Murphy recorded a 6-2, 6-4 advantage over Georgia Tech's Taylor Goetz to advance to Sunday's flight two championship match, and senior Macy Hitchcock came from behind to beat Aida Eissa of Maryland, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, in a flight four contest that was moved indoors due to rain midway through the match. Sophomore Lily Doherty held off Risa Ueno of Illinois, 6-1, 6-3, in flight five.
All eight teams competing in the tournament were ranked in the final 2026 ITA Collegiate Tennis rankings: N.C. State (8), South Carolina (29), Maryland (36), Illinois (48), Wake Forest (59), Georgia Tech (65), Furman (67), and Indiana (70).
The tournament will conclude with one round of singles on Sunday starting at 9 a.m.
