Bri Pinasco has been named the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and was an honorable mention selection to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Pinasco, a native of Columbia, S.C., netted a pair of goals to lead the Paladins to a 7-1 victory over VMI on Sunday afternoon in their lone match of the week. The midfielder scored the eventual match-winning goal in the 19
th minute to break a 1-1 tie as
Marlie Nagle fed a pass into the six-yard box for the University of South Carolina transfer to redirect past the Keydet goalkeeper. In the 36
th minute, Furman earned a free kick near the top of the box and Pinasco drove her set piece into the far corner of the net to add an insurance goal.
In 12 matches this season, Pinasco has tallied a team-leading seven goals and added two assists. She has scored game-winning goals in victories versus North Greenville, Bob Jones, and VMI.
Furman (7-3-2, 2-0-1 SoCon) looks to remain unbeaten in league play when it faces The Citadel on Sunday in Charleston, S.C. Kickoff at Washington Light Infantry Field is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
