Biography
General: Furman’s most experienced player...All-Southern Conference performer who is part of a contingent of four returning starters...effective 3-point shooter who can also contribute on the boards....with 761 career points has a shot to reach 1,000 points this year.
2011-12: Selected second team All-Southern Conference honors by league media after pacing Furman in scoring (10.4 ppg), 3-point shooting (32.3%) and steals (45)...ranked 12th in SoCon in scoring and third in 3-pointers made (60x186)...scored season high 20 points and had seven rebounds versus Troy (75-57 win)...earned SoCon Player of the Week honors after combining to score 33 points and claiming 20 rebounds in wins over Elon (75-60) an UNC Greensboro (53-48) in Greenville...work versus UNCG included career high 12 boards...connected on a 3-pointer with 0:04 remaining to complete a 16-point comeback to beat UNCG (66-64) at Greensboro — a performance that garnered her SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week accolades...named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
2010-11: Earned 21 starts and averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game...tied a Furman record by connecting on 8-of-14 3-pointers in a career high 27-point performance at UNC Asheville (86-75 loss)...averaged 6.7 rebounds over the final 11 games...scored 14 points and collected 10 rebounds against Wofford (88-65 win) in Spartanburg...connected on 3-of-4 3-pointers in a key late February contest at Davidson (62-57 win), part of a three-game road winning streak that helped Furman to a fifth place SoCon regular season finish....named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
2009-10: Fashioned a solid freshman season, seeing action in all 31 games and logging 15 starts...tallied a season best 22 points (5x8 3PFGs) and five steals versus Wofford in Greenville (72-53 win)...scored 15 points and claimed nine rebounds vs. UNCG in Greenville...had 14 points and four steals Appalachian State in Boone (73-56 win)...named to SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
High School: 2009 graduate of Oak Ridge High School...coach was Jill Prudden...two-time all-district and all-region choice...keyed Oak Ridge to a 29-4 record and district title her senior year after going 34-2 mark and making the Final Four in 2007-08...program four-year record was 116-23...2008 TSWA All-State pick...tallied 1,391 points (12th in school history) and 153 3-pointers...set school single game record (7) for 3-pointers....played AAU ball with the Tennessee Flight.
Personal: Raegan Neely Thompson...born on February 19, 1991, in Tazewell, Tennessee...daughter of John and Lori Thompson...mother was a standout basketball player at Lincoln Memorial, where she inducted into the school hall of fame in 2001...sports a 3.67 GPA...health sciences major.
