Greenville, SC - The 66th ranked Furman men's tennis team picked up two more victories on Saturday giving them a 4-0 record for the weekend. Furman shut out Washington & Lee 7-0 in the morning match and held off Emory 4-3 Saturday night. The two wins give Furman a 5-6 record for the year.

Furman began the day winning all three doubles matches gaining the early 1-0 advantage. In flight one Scott Kahler and Will Kieffer downed Seth Feibelmann and Jon Malooly 8-3 while Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman ousted Charles Anderson and Chris Kimmel 8-2 in flight two. In the flight three match Ethan Asher and Jason Basile hit their way to an 8-2 victory over Nelson Bunn and James McCardell. Furman went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets giving them the 7-0 shut out.

The afternoon match against Emory turned out to be a much closer match. Furman and Emory split the No.1 and No.2 doubles matches before Paladin teammates Ryan Friend and Andy Sobczyk defeated Mark Boren and Yoji Masuoka 9-8(1) to give Furman the 1-0 advantage.

Furman jumped out to a 3-0 lead with wins in flights one and five. At No.1 Andy Juc cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Michael Goodwin and Bo Ladyman downed Hardy Ehlers 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 at No.5. Emory fought their way back with three straight singles wins tying the match at 3-3. At No.3 Patrick Redmond defeated Andy Sobczyk 6-2, 6-4 while fellow Eagle Jesse Ferlianto hit his way past Will Kieffer 6-4, 6-4 at No.6. In the flight four match Emory's Mark Boren downed Daniel Knause 6-1, 6-4. With the match on the line Paladin Brian Crook shook off a second set loss to down Yoji Masuoka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 in flight two, giving Furman the 4-3 victory.

Furman travels to Knoxville, TN next Saturday for a 1:00 PM match against Tennessee.
