The 20th ranked Tennessee men's tennis team defeated No. 68 Furman 6-1 Saturday on an overcast day at the UT Varsity Courts. Tennessee improved to 5-1 this season with the Paladins falling to 5-7.
Tennessee duo Bobby Cameron and Kaden Hensel got the Vols started defeating Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. After Furman captured the No. 3 doubles match with Scott Kahler and Andy Juc downing Kiril Tcherveniachki and Johnny Thorton 8-4, the Vols responded as its No. 1 duo of Adam Hubble and Ben Rogers defeated Greg Maarschalk and Ben Pauluhn 8-3 to give Tennessee an early 1-0 lead.
Ben Rogers stayed hot as he defeated Brian Crook at No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-0 to give Tennessee a 2-0 lead. Bobby Cameron quickly extended Tennessee's lead to 3-0, with his victory at the No. 1 position 6-4, 6-0 over Ben Pauluhn.
Adam Hubble clinched the match for UT with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Bo Ladyman at the No. 4 slot.
Tennessee's Derek Stephens and David Baxendine both won in singles also. Stephens defeated Daniel Knause 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 6 position and Baxendine won at the No. 3 slot 7-5, 6-3, over Greg Maarschalk.
Furman's Andy Juc prevented a Tennessee sweep by defeating Hensel 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Furman returns to action on Monday for a 3:00 PM showdown against Wake Forest in Winston Salem, NC.
