Greenville, SC - The 64th ranked Furman women's won their eighth straight match Wednesday afternoon with a 7-0 shut out over Appalachian State. The win moves the Lady Paladins to 15-6, 8-0 in the Southern Conference, dropping the Mountaineers to 11-7, 4-4 in conference. The win was also Furman's sixty-ninth straight regular season Southern Conference victory.

In doubles Furman's Lauren Osborne and Jacqueline Eckert quickly won their flight two match, blanking Monica Tomas and Frances Blanton 8-0. Laura Gioia and Marti Morris secured the doubles point for the Lady Paladins with an 8-5 victory over Lyndsay Free and Anja Gugger in flight one. Furman also picked up a win in the flight three match with Lisa Bornt-Davis and Shannon Moore downing Salem Kirven and Victoria Moody 8-7(5).

Furman went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets to secure the shut out in the day. In flight one Laura Gioia blanked Anja Gugger 6-0, 6-0 and in flight two Marti Morris cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Monica Tomas. In her flight three match Lauren Osborne battled for a 6-4, 6-4 win over Victoria Moody while Shannon Moore downed Salem Kirven 6-2, 6-2 at No.4. Playing at No.5 Bonnie Baird hit her way to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Lyndsay Free and in the final match in flight six Lauren Tomory downed Frances Blanton 7-6(4), 6-1.

The Lady Paladins travel to Davidson, NC on Friday for their final match of the regular season against Davidson. With each team currently undefeated in conference play, the winner of the match will receive the No.1 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament next weekend. Match time is set for 2 PM.
