Greenville, S.C. - The Furman men's tennis team hosted Presbyterian College and UNC Asheville in its home opener on Sunday afternoon, earning wins in both matches by a tally of 7-0. The Paladins, who won all singles matches on the day in straight sets, improve to 2-2 on the season. The loss drops Presbyterian to 1-3 while UNC Asheville falls to 1-4 overall.

Furman opened the day against the Presbyterian College Blue Hose, giving up only seven total games in the three doubles matches. Ninth-ranked senior duo of Andy Juc and Bo Ladyman earned an 8-1 victory over Matt Martin and Zach Sprouse at number one. The tandem was also posted an 8-1 win over UNC Asheville's Mauricio Correa and Jonas Brobeck later in the day.

Chris Rhyne and Andrei Chvetsov also teamed up for two doubles wins on Sunday. The pair defeated Presbyterian's Mike Nicol and Brad Luciuk, 8-4, at number three and followed that with an 8-7 (4) win over the Bulldogs Joe May and Nicolai Nonnebroich at number two.

The Paladins were equally as strong in singles action. Having played at number three singles in the previous matches this season, senior Daniel Knause moved up to the number two position and earned straight-set wins over both Nicol and Nonnebroich. Sophomore Sawyer Duncan remained undefeated on the season with a 6-1, 6-0 win over PC's Mark Cannatelli and a 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Bulldog sophomore Nathan White. Freshman Philipp Fuelkell continued his strong play this season, earning two more wins to move to 3-1 on the season. Junior Chris Motes also earned two victories, losing only a combined total of six games in the two matches.

Furman will go back on the road to challenge #61 Clemson on Wednesday, February 11 at 2 p.m.
