Results

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. -- The College of Charleston downed Furman, 4-0, Sunday afternoon in the 2010 Southern Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Championship in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

Emma Hayman defeated freshman Lauren Kline 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles, while Kinsey Casey beat freshman Michele Stanford 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth singles match. Laura Borza defeated sophomore Susan Bitetti 6-1, 6-3 in the number five singles match, and Keely Mulligan beat junior Jennifer Betts 6-3, 6-3 at number six singles.

At number one singles, Furman junior Monica Arguello won the first set 7-5 but was down 4-1 in the second set to Holly Dowse. Caroline Newman of College of Charleston was leading Paladin senior Jessica Preeg 6-0, 5-4 at number three singles. Both matches were unfinished, and the doubles competition was not played.

Furman concludes the 2010 season with a 16-8 overall record and 8-2 Southern Conference mark.
