GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman will look to halt a seven-game losing skid Wednesday when it returns home to face Wofford at Timmons Arena. Tipoff for the Southern Conference matchup is set for 7:00 p.m.
The Paladins (6-10, 2-5 SoCon) sported a 6-3 overall record and 2-0 league mark in mid-December before hitting the road for a five-game road swing, but a 71-61 setback against SoCon frontrunner UNC Greensboro on Dec. 20 began a slide that included losses to Wake Forest, then-nationally 24th-ranked Arkansas, and setbacks to league foes Chattanooga and Samford.
The postponement of Furman's Jan. 10 home contest against Davidson was followed by losses at Elon and Western Carolina, thus extending the Paladins' road stretch to seven games — the longest in the program's 42-year history.
In Wofford (6-9, 2-5 SoCon) the Paladins will be facing a foe that has never won in Greenville, as the Terriers have gone 0-18 against Furman in a series that began during the 1981-82 campaign. The Paladins won last year's encounter in Timmons Arena, 72-53, and lead the all-time series, 29-6.
Senior guard Kelly O'Connor leads Furman in scoring (12.6 ppg) and is followed by sophomore Kaitlin Murphy (12.3 ppg). Kendra Berry rounds out a trio of double figure scorers (10.1 ppg) and is the squad's top rebounder (6.9 rpg).
Furman will play eight of its final 13 regular season games in Timmons Arena, where the Paladins are 5-0 on the season. The remaining home slate includes a six-game home stretch spanning the first two weeks of February.
Despite its overall record Furman under first year head coach Jackie Carson is already one win shy of matching last year's seven-win campaign.
