Box Score Macon, Ga. – Mercer scored three-straight goals in the game's final four minutes to steal a win from Furman, 12-10, on Saturday in Macon. The win moves the Bears to 4-7 on the year, 2-3 in SoCon play, while the loss drops the Paladins to 2-9 on the season and 2-3 in SoCon play. 
Four Paladins netted a pair of goals to lead Furman and Reilly McDermott made 11 saves as Mercer out-shot the Paladins 23-14 on the afternoon. Hil Blaze picked up a team-high five ground balls while Jon Vandenburg added four.
Furman jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, before Mercer responded with five-straight goals to take a 6-2 lead with 5:47 remaining in the second period. Furman was able to get a man-up goal from Ben Levin to cut the lead in half at 6-3 heading in to halftime, then used another man-up goal by Levin to cut the lead to 6-4 just 30 seconds in to the second half.
The Paladins got back-to-back goals to tie the game at six with 13:15 remaining in the game, before Mercer regained the lead at 7-6 with 12:32 to go. The teams then traded goals until Furman again got back-to-back goals, this time from Troy Deyo and Finn Barry, to grab the lead at 8-7 with 6:52 remaining. Mercer again tied the game with 4:45 left, before Barry netted his second goal of the period to give the Paladins a 10-9 lead with just under four minutes to go.
Mercer rallied, however, scoring three-straight goals in the game's final minutes, including two by Lucas Wittenberg, to steal a 12-10 victory from the Paladins.
Furman returns to Paladin Stadium next weekend, hosting High Point in a 12:00 p.m., Senior Day SoCon matchup.
