Furman Falls to High Point, 10-5, in 2016 Home Finale

Greenville, S.C. – Five different Paladins scored, but the Paladins couldn't hang on to an early lead, falling to High Point, 10-5, in the 2016 home finale. The win moves the Panthers to 8-5 on the year, 4-2 in SoCon play, while the loss drops the Paladins to 2-10 and 2-4 in SoCon play.

Scott Primeau, Finn Barry, William Holcomb, Chase Hancock and Matt Geran each scored for the Paladins, while Barry, Primeau, David Williamson and Ben Levin each tallied an assist. Reilly McDermott tallied 12 saves for the Paladins, while Conner Kipke picked up a team-high five ground balls.

High Point jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Peyton Garrett, but Furman responded with back-to-back goals by Chase Hancock and Finn Barry to take a 2-1 lead. The Panthers tied the game at two before Furman regained the lead at 3-2 on a goal by Scott Primeau. High Point then used back-to-back goals to regain the lead at 4-3 two minutes into the second period.

Furman used a man-up goal by Matt Geran to tie the game at four, but High Point rattled off three-straight goals to take a 7-4 lead into halftime.

The Panthers increased their lead to 8-4 1:30 into the second half, before William Holcomb cut the lead to three at 8-5 with 5:42 to go in the third. High Point finished the game on a 3-0 run to take the 10-5 victory.

Michael LeClair and Dallas Bridle each scored three goals for High Point, while LeClair also added a team-high three assists. Goalie Tim Troutner made 15 saves.

Furman closes out the 2016 regular season on Saturday, April 30, at Bellarmine in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
