GREENVILLE, S.C. – In his final home match of the regular season, Furman senior Adam Steryous posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over 81^st-ranked Zachery Kennedy at flight one singles, but 35^th-ranked Georgia State scored four other singles victories to slip past the Paladins, 4-3, Friday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. 

The Paladins won two out of three doubles matches to claim the opening point.  Sophomore Alex Steryous and junior Cameron Green teamed up for a 6-3 win over Sebastian Acuna and Jack MacFarlen at flight two, and freshmen Clarke Wilson and Trevor Croyder topped Felipe Jaworski and Quentin Coulaud, 6-4, at number three.  The flight one match was unfinished.

Due to impending inclement weather, the teams moved indoors for singles play.  Furman extended its lead to 2-0 with Adam Steryous' win at flight one, but the Panthers got on the board when Jannis Koeke beat Munns, 6-2, 6-1, at flight three.  Wilson answered for the Paladins, defeating Coulaud, 6-1, 6-4, at number four to extend Furman's lead to 3-1. 

Georgia State scored the final three singles points for the team victory.  Andrei Andrukhou came from behind for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory over Green at flight two, and Jaworski tied the match at 3-apiece with a 6-4, 6-3 advantage versus freshman Jake Bhangdia at number six.  In the decisive flight five match, Acuna posted a 7-6(4), 6-1 win against Alex Steryous. 

Furman (16-7, 6-1 SoCon) will be the No. 2 seed at the Southern Conference Championships, which will be held in Greenville, S.C., April 21-23.
