Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Da'Ja Green scored 20 points and Wofford used a blowout second quarter to take command on the way to an easy 79-48 victory over Furman in Southern Conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The win halted an eight-game series losing streak by Wofford (10-12, 3-4 SoCon) to Furman (13-9, 3-4 SoCon) and marked only the Terriers' eighth victory in 50 meetings with the Paladins.
Wofford trailed Furman 14-12 midway through the first quarter before closing the period with an 8-0 run. It continued in the second quarter as the Paladins went scoreless for 6:47 while the Terriers outscored the Paladins 26-4 in the frame to take total control and a 46-18 lead heading into intermission.
Green, a freshman guard, led an effective Terrier back court by connecting on 8-of-12 shots, including 3-of-4 3-point attempts. She also collected five rebounds, four assists, and a pair of steals in 40 minutes of action. Marissa Bayer tallied 16 points, Cairo Booker chipped in 14 points and seven assists, and Anna Claire Atha also finished with 14 points on the strength of 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.
The Terriers shot 51.5 percent from the field (33x64) and made 9-of-19 treys (47.4%). Wofford's backcourt trio of Green, Booker, and Atha combined for 48 points on 19-of-35 shooting from the field.
Celena Taborn led Furman with 15 points, and Cierra Carter finished with 12.
Furman plays at Mercer on Thursday.
