Furman vs. Winthrop Game Notes
Greenville, S.C. – Furman basketball will make its return to downtown Greenville on Saturday when the Paladins host the Winthrop Eagles for a 6 p.m. tip-off at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Weekends at the Well presented by Ingles and Healthy Blue begins with a fan fest at the Furman Plaza entrance at 4 p.m. There will be giveaways, inflatables for the kids, concessions and a DJ. The Furman band and cheerleaders will join fans in the Furman Plaza as they welcome head coach
Bob Richey and the Paladins to the Well with the Champions Walk at 4:25 p.m. Santa Claus will be on hand inside the Furman Plaza entrance from 5-6:00 p.m. to take pictures.

Tickets for Saturday's game and all of Furman's 10 remaining home games are on sale now at the Timmons Arena Box Office and online at
FurmanPaladins.com. Current Furman students will have access to free tickets on Furman basketball game days.

The Paladins enter Saturday's contest at 9-3 after claiming a 90-65 victory over North Greenville on Wednesday night at Timmons Arena behind a career-high 25 points from sophomore
Mike Bothwell. Senior
Jordan Lyons scored 14 points, while
Noah Gurley and
Alex Hunter tallied 11 apiece.

Gurley leads the Paladins averaging 15.2 points per game. Lyons has added 14.4 per contest and junior
Clay Mounce has contributed 14.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Bothwell, who has averaged 10.5 per game, gives Furman four players scoring in double figures thru 12 games.

Saturday's showdown at the Well marks the 11
th meeting between Furman and Winthrop with the series knotted at 5-5. Winthrop has won each of the last five in the series, including a 93-74 decision at Timmons Arena during the 2017-18 season. Furman's last victory over the Eagles, a 74-68 overtime verdict, came on December 20, 1988, at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium, which was located across the street from Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Winthrop comes to Greenville with a 4-6 record after dropping a 70-60 decision at TCU on Wednesday night. The Eagles, led by Josh Ferguson's 13.7 points per game, registered a 61-59 upset of No. 18 Saint Mary's in November.

Following Saturday's game, Furman opens Southern Conference play with a trip to Macon, Ga., to face Mercer on December 20.
