SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Senior Ryan Adams won the men's 1,500m, and junior Luke Meade took the title in the men's 5,000m to lead the Furman track and field teams Monday at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet at the Walter T. Skallerup, Jr. Track on the campus of Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pa.
Adams crossed the line in 3:42.67 for the victory, nearly surpassing his own program record of 3:42.25. Junior Jake Ogden finished third among collegiate runners and 12th overall with a time of 3:46.99 in the event.
Meade claimed the men's 5,000m title with a personal-best time of 14:13.73, knocking almost seven seconds off his previous personal best.
In the women's 1,500m, junior Gabbi Jennings was the top collegiate finisher, winning her heat and placing 13th overall with a time of 4:21.89. She was followed by junior Savannah Carnahan who was second in the heat and 14th overall at 4:23.58, while sophomore Krissy Gear placed third in the heat 15th overall with a personal-best time of 4:24.71. Sophomore Emma Kuntz took 19th place with a personal-best time of 4:27.47.
Select members of the Paladin team will compete at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla., May 23-25.
