PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Furman distance medley relay team set a program record Friday to conclude the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
Freshman Annie Miller, sophomore Claire Cook, sophomore Nysa Males, and senior Camryn Wennersten posted a time of 11:10.50 to take eight place and knock over a minute off the previous record of 12:15.82, which was set in April of 2000.
Wennersten finished 17th in the 1,500m with a time of 4:17.49, while Miller posted a time of 4:21.24 to take 31st in the event, and Males placed 37th at 4:23.30.
In the 3,000m Steeplechase, Ward notched a personal-best time of 10:25.06 to move up a few spots to 38th on the NCAA East region qualifying list, and freshman Tessa Walter competed in the 5,000m, where she finished 38th with a PR of 16:36.95.
More than 100,000 fans gathered in Philadelphia to watch over 17,000 athletes compete in race categories for youth, high school, Special Olympics, collegiate, masters, and Olympic Development at the meet, which is one of the most historic track & field events in the world.
