Furman Softball Announces 2020 Schedule

Paladins Open Season On February 8

2020 Furman Softball Schedule

Greenville, S.C. –
Ten games against 2019 NCAA Tournament teams, including an opening-weekend clash with College World Series participant Washington, highlight Furman softball's 2020 schedule, which was released this week by head coach Wally King.
 
The Paladins open the 2020 campaign February 8-9, at the Buzz Classic in Atlanta, Ga., with games against Ohio, host Georgia Tech, UAB and 2019 College World Series participant Washington. The following weekend Furman travels to the FGCU Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla., to take on the host Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, Illinois-Chicago, 2019 NCAA Tournament participant Arkansas and the Memphis Tigers.
 
Furman faces Maryland, Evansville, 2019 MAAC champion Monmouth and host Georgia Southern February 21-23, at the Eagle Round Robin in Statesboro, Ga., before a doubleheader at former Southern Conference member College of Charleston on February 25. The Paladins will close the opening month of the season at Gardner-Webb's Red & Black Tournament in Boiling Springs, N.C., February 28 – March 1, and conclude early season tournament play against Jacksonville, UAB and Colgate March 6-8, in Birmingham, Ala., at UAB's tournament.
 
The Paladins open their 11-game home schedule on March 10, by hosting the Pitt Panthers at Pepsi Stadium and entertain former SoCon rival Georgia Southern on March 18. The rest of the home slate includes SoCon series versus Samford (March 21-22), ETSU (April 10-11) and Western Carolina (April 25-26).
 
Challenging non-conference battles at Georgia (DH), North Carolina State, South Carolina and Georgia Tech highlight the remainder of the 2020 schedule.
 
The Paladins return six starters from a 2019 squad that posted a 13-38 overall record and 5-12 SoCon mark.
 
Admission is free to all 11 Furman home games at Pepsi Stadium.
