Julia Adams & Katarina Kozarov

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will entertain Georgia Tech Saturday at 11 a.m. in the team's home opener at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

"This is a really exciting weekend for us, and we look forward to having a great crowd out for all three upcoming home matches and our open house on Sunday," said Paladin head coach Adam Herendeen, who is in his fifth year at the helm of the Furman program.  "I think we learned a lot about ourselves against N.C. State, and we are ready for a big battle with Georgia Tech tomorrow!"

Saturday's match marks the 23rd meeting between the two teams.  The Paladins and Yellow Jackets last met in 2007, when Georgia Tech scored a 7-0 victory in Atlanta to take a 17-5 lead in the series.

Furman enters the contest with an 0-1 record after falling to No. 8 N.C. State, 5-2, Wednesday in the team's season opener.  The Paladins picked up singles wins at flights one and six.

Georgia Tech comes to Greenville with a 2-0 record after winning both matches of a double header, each 4-0, versus Kennesaw State last weekend.

On Sunday, the Furman women's tennis team will hold a silent auction and open house at the Mickel Tennis Center.  Fans are invited to watch the team practice from noon - 1:30 p.m. then meet and greet the players from 1:30 - 3 p.m.  Fans can bid on silent auction items, enjoy appetizers, meet players and coaches, and hear about the upcoming season.

Each item in the auction has been donated, so all money raised will go directly to the Paladin team and will help fund the team's spring break trip to California in March.  Log on to https://www.32auctions.com/FurmanWomensTennis to view items available for auction.

Fans can follow the Furman women's tennis team throughout the season by logging onto www.FurmanPaladins.com.  Live stats and live video of select matches will be available online.
