Greenville, S.C. – Furman men's basketball will welcome its alumni back to campus for Legend's Weekend as the first place Paladins go for their seventh straight win on Saturday in a 4:30 p.m. matchup against the Chattanooga Mocs at Timmons Arena.
Former Paladins from at least six different states, including Illinois, Indiana and Maryland, are expected to attend the weekend's festivities and cheer on Furman in their push for the postseason. NBA Draft picks Jerry Smith and George Singleton, All-SoCon talent Hal Henderson, and two-sport standouts David Stamey and Luther Broughton are among the familiar names returning to Timmons Arena.
Smith, a second-round pick of the Detroit Pistons in 1963, was a three-time All-SoCon performer and a second team Helms Foundation All-American in 1962. Singleton, named honorable mention All-American by the Sporting News in 1982, was a three-time All-SoCon choice and was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the third round of the 1984 draft. Henderson, a native of Simpsonville, S.C., earned All-SoCon honors in 1992 and helped Furman to the SoCon regular season title in 1991. Stamey and Broughton hold the rare distinction of having played both football and basketball during their careers at Furman. Broughton went on to a successful NFL career with the Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles.
The legends will attend practice on Friday afternoon before being honored at a banquet later that night. On Saturday, the Legend's Weekend Basketball Game will take place at the PAC at 10 a.m. prior to Furman's pregame preparations and the 4:30 p.m. tip-off versus the Mocs, which follows Furman's women's game versus ETSU at 2 p.m.
Saturday's game marks the 90

Mike Bothwell's career-best 27 points. Furman has won four straight versus the Mocs in Greenville and enters Saturday with a 10-0 record at Timmons Arena this season.
