Greenville, S.C. – Furman goes for sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference men's basketball standings when the Paladins visit Johnson City, Tenn., on Wednesday to face league co-leaders ETSU. Tip-off at Freedom Hall is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Furman, riding a seven-game winning streak, enters the matchup at 22-5 overall and 12-2 in the SoCon after a 58-53 home victory versus Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs downed VMI on Saturday to improve to 23-4 overall and 12-2 in the league. Of the 48 NCAA Division I games on Wednesday, Furman and ETSU's combined 45 wins is seven more than in any of the other 47 contests tomorrow evening.
The Paladins enter the game ranked No. 8 in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 and No. 72 in the latest NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) Rankings. ETSU is the No. 2 ranked mid-major behind Gonzaga and is currently No. 42 in the NET. A victory at ETSU would strengthen Furman's NCAA Tournament resume as the Paladins would pick up a crucial Quadrant 1 win. For ETSU, who is currently predicted to be in the field as an at-large selection by ESPN's Joe Lunardi, a victory over Furman could potentially further solidify its standing in the field of 68.
Wednesday's game marks the 61
st all-time meeting between the Paladins and Bucs with ETSU holding a 31-29 series edge. The Paladins, however, have won the last two meetings and three of the last five, including a 65-56 decision at Timmons Arena on January 4, behind 14 points from senior
Jordan Lyons. Last season, the Paladins and Bucs split the season series with ETSU winning 79-56 in Johnson City before Furman claimed a 91-61 victory in Greenville.
