Paladins Play UNCG In Final Regular Season Road Game On Wednesday

Tip-Off Set For 7 P.M.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team travels to Greensboro, N.C., to face the UNCG Spartans in its final regular season road contest on Wednesday night. Tip-off at the Greensboro Coliseum is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Furman and UNCG enter Wednesday tied for second in the Southern Conference standings, one game behind ETSU (14-2), at 23-6 overall and 13-3 in league play. The Paladins have won eight of their last nine games and earned a 67-66 win over Wofford on Saturday afternoon at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in front of a crowd of 6,096. UNCG has won six straight games, including a 71-68 come-from-behind win at VMI on Saturday. The Paladins and Spartans join Gonzaga, Duke, Kansas, ETSU, and Florida State as the only team to win at least 23 games in each of the last four seasons.

Sophomore Noah Gurley led the Paladins with 22 points and seven rebounds on Saturday, while Mike Bothwell added 18 points. After trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, Furman rallied to take a four-point lead with under two minutes to play. Wofford regained the lead, but Bothwell banked in the go-ahead basket from the left box with 12.1 seconds remaining and a last second three by the Terriers missed as Furman won at home for the 13th time in 14 tries this season.

The Spartans hold a 20-17 lead in the all-time series between the schools and claimed an 86-73 triumph over the Paladins at the Well on January 11, behind 18 points from guard Isaiah Miller. Gurley paced Furman with 27 points and eight rebounds in the first meeting.

The Paladins return home to host The Citadel in the regular season finale on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Timmons Arena. Furman's lone senior Jordan Lyons will be honored prior to the game, which will follow Furman women's basketball's 2 p.m. contest versus Wofford.

Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale at the Timmons Arena Box Office and online at FurmanPaladins.com. Current Furman students will have access to free tickets on Furman basketball game days. Click here to learn about the student ticket policy for the 2019-20 season.
