Furman Women’s Basketball Adds Three for 2020-21 Season

Paladins Announce Additions of DePetro, Dyke and Koilia

Greenville, S.C. – Furman head women's basketball coach Jackie Carson announced today the additions of three players who will be joining the Paladins for the 2020-21 campaign.

Joining Furman beginning in 2020-21 are Evie DePetro, Cyan Dyke and Paraskevi (Voula) Koilia.

DePetro is a 5-9 guard from Knoxville, Tennessee, where she currently attends Carter High School. Playing for head coach Bo Lewis, DePetro reached the 1,000-point club during her prep career. This past season, she was a First Team All-Region and All-District selection as Carter won the Region 2A championship. She averaged 14.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game as a senior. DePetro also earned First Team All-Region and All-District accolades during her junior and sophomore seasons. As a sophomore, she finished runner-up for District Player of the Year.

She is the daughter of Mike and Lisa DePetro.

"Evie first got on our radar by attending one of our elite camps years ago," said Carson. "Her work ethic and 'all-out' hustle made her very memorable. Evie tore her ACL last April. For some, an ACL injury can be a roadblock and permanent setback. For Evie, her injury catapulted her to the next level. I love that she used the adversity associated with her injury to make her the type of player that Furman fans will love!"

Dyke is a 5-10 forward from Los Angeles, California, and attends Bishop Montgomery High School. She played for head coach, and ex-WNBA star, Noelle Quinn and captured two league championships during her junior and senior seasons. This past season, Dyke was named Second Team All-Area by the Daily Breeze after averaging a double-double of 10.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She tied a school record of 27 rebounds on January 23 against Serra High School.

She is the daughter of Brian Dyke and Cynthia Cooper-Dyke. Her mother, Cynthia, was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. She played in the WNBA for the Houston Comets, winning four WNBA Championships, four WNBA Finals MVP and two WNBA MVP.

"When we talked to various coaches across the West Coast at all levels who know Cyan, there were three characteristics that every single coach mentioned…toughness, hard-worker and competitor, everything we are looking for in our DISTINCT players," Carson added. "The game of basketball is literally in her blood lines due to both parents exposing her to the game throughout her life. Cyan's ability to play multiple positions will make her an offensive and defensive matchup problem. I truly feel her best basketball is ahead of her and her development will soar at the college level."

Koilia is a 5-8 guard from Athens, Greece, where she attended Moraitis High School. She played for head coach George Katzilieris at Moraitis. Koilia also played for the U18 Greece National Team. She was the starting point guard on the U16 and U18 Greece National Teams that went undefeated for two-and-a-half years. Koilia was a part of a National Championship team at both the U16 and U18 levels while finishing second in the National Championship Tournament as a senior. Playing in FIBA U18 this past season, she averaged 10.4 points and 5.0 assists per game. As the youngest player on her Women's League team, she contributed 5.1 points and 2.5 assists per contest.

She is the daughter of Dimitrios Koilias and Katerina Moschous.

"Voula is going to be fun to watch," stated Carson. "Her enthusiasm and love of the game will be contagious to her teammates and Furman fans alike. She is the type of point guard that thrives on being the 'engine' of the team and leading her teammates to greater heights. She is a natural leader and the experience she has gained at the international and European level will be a great asset to our program."

The trio gives the Paladins a total of six newcomers, joining Sydney James (Ocala, Florida), Aaliyah Irizarry Perez (Oviedo, Florida) and Tate Walters (Buford, Georgia).
