GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman women's basketball tips off Southern Conference play on Saturday at Wofford in a 2:00 p.m. contest at Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The game will be live streamed via ESPN+, with a links to the broadcast and live stats available thru FurmanPaladins.com.
The Paladins (4-5, 0-0 SoCon), who have battled thru a number of game cancellations and additions over the season's first six weeks, notched a pair of victories over the past week, beating Queens (67-53) and Erskine (77-44).
Wofford (4-3) rolled past Erskine, 88-49, on Jan. 2 in its last outing.
Furman's top performer this season has been redshirt senior all-conference forward
Tierra Hodges, who enters Saturday's contest averaging a team leading 15.8 points and SoCon best 10.6 rebounds per game. Â Owner of six double-doubles (points/rebounds) this year, the 5-foot-9 Covington, Ga., product was named to the Becky Harmon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch List.
A pair of freshmen,
Sydney James (11.1 ppg) and
Tate Walters (10.0 ppg) round out the Paladins' double figure scorers, but the duo has missed the last two games. Â Walters garnered SoCon Player of the Week honors in early December after registering 25 points in the Paladins' 73-58 win over Georgia Southern.
Saturday's contest will be the 55th meeting in the Furman-Wofford series, which the Paladins lead 45-9. Â Furman has captured the last two encounters, including a 68-54 win in SoCon Tournament play last year, but Wofford has won the last three clashes in Spartanburg.
Furman was a preseason No. 4 pick in poll of SoCon head coaches, and Wofford was sixth.
