Paladins Continue Road Trip Tuesday at High Point

Game Time Set for 7 p.m.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team remains on the road for the second consecutive game against a Big South Conference opponent Tuesday evening when it travels to High Point, N.C. for a 7 p.m. tipoff against the High Point Panthers from the Qubein Center.

Furman (4-2), following a five-day break, returned to action last Saturday with an 87-77 victory at USC Upstate. Alex Hunter scored a career high 24 points to lead all players after shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 6-of-9 behind the 3-point line. Jalen Slawson contributed 18 points while adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Mike Bothwell poured in 11 points. Making his first start of the season, Marcus Foster registered his first career double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Garrett Hien tied his career high of five assists.

The Paladins concluded the game shooting 55.0 percent overall and 46.4 percent from 3-point range. Furman held an 18-12 advantage in second chance points and 13-11 in fast break points. The Paladins also scored 40 of their 87 points in the paint.

Bothwell leads Furman offensively this season averaging 18.0 points per game. Slawson contributes 15.3 points and a team leading 7.7 rebounds per contest. Hunter provides 16.3 points, Conley Garrison 10.3 and Hien 10.2

High Point currently sits at 3-3 on the season following a 90-60 victory last Saturday over Chowan. The Panthers also have wins over Shenandoah and Howard. High Point is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tubby Smith.

The Paladins are facing the Panthers for the third time in program history and holds a 2-0 lead in the all-time series. The teams last played during the 2004-05 season with Furman defeating High Point 58-45 in High Point.

The Paladins are back at Timmons Arena on Friday evening to host College of Charleston at 7 p.m.
